Dr. Yerusalem Lanier has brought her startup Cutting Edge Foot and Ankle Clinic’s first location to the (easily accessible from I65) medical office building by Skyline Hospital. She has a second location up and running in White House, and is working on a third location in Pleasant View, just off I24 and in the Springfield Hospital catchment area. Dr. Lanier graduated from Fisk University before going on to Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, and then on to the highly regarded, heavily surgical training of St Vincent Hospital Podiatric Residency in Worcester, Massachusetts just outside of Boston. She spends most of her time outside work with her husband David, an emergency medicine physician, and their two daughters.Cutting Edge Foot and Ankle Clinic is the culmination of years of planning, with the goal of providing accessible and compassionate foot care for everyone. Dr. Lanier’s parent’s foot troubles, diabetes and gout, inspired in her the fire to provide the very best care, to relieve suffering and prevent complications. Dr. David Farnen is originally from Southern California but has been a Nashville native for several years. Dr. Farnen completed his B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and obtained his doctorate degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science / Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. He then completed his surgical residency training at Eastern Virginia Medical School together with the Sentara Hospital healthcare system. Dr. Farnen has a strong enthusiasm and commitment to research. During his medical training, he was awarded an NIH grant to conduct research in the field of diabetes and peripheral neuropathy on effects on the foot and ankle.

Dr. Farnen is a board qualified foot and ankle surgeon by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine with a subspecialty in limb salvage, wound care, and hyperbaric oxygen therapies. He specializes in all aspects, both surgical and non-surgical foot and ankle care. He has a passion for dermatological pathologies, diabetic foot care, wound care, and cutting-edge technologies (no pun intended) in foot and ankle care. Dr. Farnen is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

In his spare time, Dr. Farnen truly enjoys spending time with his wife Natalie, a Family Nurse Practitioner student, and their sassy 3-year-old daughter and another girl on the way! When he is not seeing patients, he can be found around town with his family at local restaurants and supporting local businesses or imitating the Beauty and the Beast dance with his daughter across his kitchen floor. Dr. JennaLou Hollnagel-Kauffman was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Florida, majoring in Pre-professional Botany. Throughout childhood and into college, Dr. Kauffman was a competitive equestrian rider and trainer. To pursue her passion for science and sports medicine, she worked in the Cancer and Genetics Research Center for the University of Florida and for the Florida Gators Football team.

Dr. Kauffman decided to stay in her home state and attend Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in the top 10 percent of her class. She completed residency at Bethesda Health System in Boynton Beach, FL where she was trained by renowned Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Hollnagel-Kauffman received extensive training in the care of conditions involving the Foot, Ankle and Lower Leg, including elective, traumatic and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. She served as Chief Resident during her residency training, having developed a special interest in Peripheral Neuropathy and Peripheral Nerve Surgery. Dr. Kauffman has performed hundreds of successful Nerve Decompression procedures to help treat nerve pain and drop foot deformity.

Dr. Kauffman is a Board Certified Foot and Ankle Surgeon and can treat all types of deformities through advanced surgical techniques. She is also Board Certified Wound Care Specialist and has her Certification in Hyperbaric Oxygen Medicine. Dr. Kauffman has won awards for Limb Salvage during her time in Advanced Wound Care Centers, including Center of Distinction and the Presidents Award. She also specializes in Regenerative Medicine including restoration of foot cushion from fat pad atrophy, treatment of tendonitis without the use of steroids, treatment of varicose veins as well as minimally invasive techniques.

Dr. Hollnagel- Kauffman has a love for teaching. For the past 3 years she has offered a Surgical Podiatric and Wound Care rotation, working with Residents and Medical students. She has given lectures during the Resident Didactic meetings and helped create research posters for their graduation.

Although trained in the most intricate and involved surgical procedures of the lower extremity, it is important for Dr. Kauffman to attempt conservative treatment options first, using surgery only as a last resort. Every patient has a unique set of circumstance that requires individualized treatment to get him/her to return to his/her desired lifestyle. Dr. Kauffman strives to make sure that her patients are educated about the treatment options that would be the best for their specific condition. Dr. Hollnagel-Kauffman believes education is the key to great outcome because every condition and circumstance is unique.

When she is not treating patients and teaching, JennaLou enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and 2 dogs. Being a Florida girl she also loves the beach, swimming, fishing, scuba diving and equestrian riding.
